Here is a bit about SSSW - Through a new partnership between Daniel McIntyre/St. Matthews Community Association, DMSMCA, Spence Neighbourhood Association, Klinic and Sunshine House, Safe Space for Sex Workers (SSSW) has been created. SSSW is a Friday night drop-in in Winnipeg’s West End which hopes to provide a safe space and services for those who identify as sex trade workers, experiential folks, victims/survivors of sexual exploitation or victims/survivors of human trafficking. We work within an inclusive, harm reduction, come as you are approach. Our mission is to host a space where people can come for coffee and a meal, recreation, resources, supplies and community support. During our two months of operations, we have also had the pleasure to work alongside Street Connections in delivering services and with a number of other agencies that have supported this project, as everyone feels that these particular services are lacking in the West End.
To truly work within an inclusive ideal, the SSSW is open to ALL ages, genders, and levels of experience within the sex trade.
We are excited and grateful to have friends in Winnipeg that wish to support our folks and would like to thank Jonny Mexico and all of the Winnipeg Working Group for their work surrounding the Sex Trade in Winnipeg and their support for our program.
