Just north of North Dakota, you'll find the capital of the Canadian prairie: Winnipeg. This town of about 700,000 has a decidedly small town feel, but with its burgeoning cultural scene, there's more to see and do here than ever before. The gay scene here is not, however, that big at all. There are only three gay bars and the first gay pride here didn't take place until 1987 (almost 15 years later than most North American cities). While here, be sure to check out the historic Forks riverfront area and market and the beauty of the Esplanade Riel/Provencher Bridge.
